Painting basically refers to drawing and coloring. It is 2D in nature and uses various media and themes to express feelings of an individual. Media can range from a pencil, charcoal, pastels, watercolor to acrylic and oil colors. An artist may express him/herself in terms of a portrait, beautiful landscape and even an abstract presentation.

Sculpture on the other hand, is also called 3D art. Popular media used for sculpture are clay, wood, stone and resigns to name a few. Primarily, they are either free-standing and reliefs popularly found around us in public and private places. Having base at a drawing or painting, sculptures are considered the exact representation of one's idea in a real form.

Both, painting and sculptures can be presented in a realistic, semi-abstract and even surrealistic manner.

Finally, Applied Art is the branch of fine art that deals with usage of art in daily life. It is meant for the usefulness and aesthetic of a product. For this reason, Applied art is also called Design work or Product Design. This is the most important sector in fine art related directly with use of various things in our daily activities. It needs idea of drawing, painting and sculpture and thus is the most challenging and interesting field of study. Designs must base upon real implementation of an idea in real world for real people. One may choose any subjects from multitude of choices available that include Fashion, Photography, Graphic design, Animation, Jewelry design, Automobile/Aviation, Medical equipments to name a few.
