Today
education is experiencing wave after wave of reforms.
In order to improve quality of education, different
organizations have been operating across the world.
iEARN is one of such networks that aim at bringing the
world educationally together through Internet. iEARN
(International Education and Resource Network) is a
non-profit organization that presently has over 15,000
schools actively working for the improvement of education
in 100 countries. iEARN empowers teachers and young
people to work together online using the Internet and
other new communications technologies. Approximately
750,000 - 1,000,000 students each day are engaged in
collaborative project work worldwide.
Since 1988, iEARN has pioneered on-line school linkages
to enable students to engage in meaningful educational
projects with peers in their countries and around the
world.
iEARN is:
• an inclusive and culturally diverse community
• a safe and structured environment in which young
people can communicate
• an opportunity to apply knowledge in service-learning
projects
• a community of educators and learners making
a difference as part of the educational process
If
we see the past, iEARN is not new to Nepal since some
people were working for some years. It is known to the
teachers and students only after the First National
Workshop of iEARN that was held at Nobel Academy in
April 2004. The iEARN trainers from Pakistan and Bangladesh
facilitated the Three-Day Workshop. Binita Nepal, the
country coordinator of iEARN Nepal played a vital role
for the success of the program. About 25 teachers from
the valley and two teachers from Rupandehi district
were trained to be the iEARN trainers of Nepal. After
that Nobel academy conducted a One-Day Workshop for
its teachers.
Nobel Academy is a part of such a global wave school.
The students can directly involve in collaborative works
with the students all over the world. The Cultural amalgamation
of the students at Nobel helps to produce sound human
resources for the nation.

ENO-Environment
Online is a global web school for environmental awareness.
Four environmental themes (dimensions of sustainable
development ) are studied within a school year ( Social,
Natural, Cultural Environment and a sustainable way
of living ) on a weekly basis. ENO Program is a strong
and active network of schools. It has been running since
2000 and it is administrated by the city of Joensuu,
Finland. ENO has received support from National Board
Of Education and European Commission.
The main idea is to lay emphasis on local environment
and see it in a global aspect: act locally - think globally.
Information will be gathered from local communities
and shared together in the website. Learning is student-centred,
both online and offline activities. At the end of each
theme there is a campaign week when students share their
results and raise them up in their local communities.
They become eventually ambassadors for environment
